Electric Sky is track 7 off of disc 3 from It Was All Just a Dream. This song features a blazing guest guitar solo from local Hilo, Hawaii guitar wizard Spencer Ahuna, who you may also know as the owner of Big Island Guitars and Music Supply, the best music store on the island.
Electric Sky was first released as the title track of my 2019 album Electric Sky. This new version features brand new drums and a punchy new mix.
Electric Sky gathers its inspiration from a combination of my love for thunderstorms and my wild imagination cooking up the scenario that the sky above is nothing more than a massive electric appliance that alien beings are able to turn on and off. Although as a child I was terrified of thunderstorms, as I grew up and learned more about them, I grew to love lightning and the way it streaks across the sky with its random jagged forks and powerful booming thunder. The song itself is a fusion of hard rock and metal, starting with the song's squealing pinch harmonic riff mixed with weird gurgling synthesizer sounds.
For my guitar parts, I used my 2019 Ibanez Guitars RG5120M for the lead parts, and the rhythm parts were played on my 2014 Ibanez S5521Q and 2015 Ibanez J.Custom RG8571. All of my parts were played on my Mesa Boogie Mark V:25 using the IIC+ voice.
