Highway One is song #3 from disc #2 from my new triple disc album It Was All Just a Dream.
Highway One initially appeared on my 2017 album Juxtaposition and again in 2022 on Juxtaposition Reimagined. The final version on It Was All Just a Dream features new drums, a new piano part, and a brand new mix.
This song was inspired by a drive with my lovely wife down through Big Sur along the central California coastline on the Pacific Coast Highway, aka Highway One. It's a place of stunning beauty, where the rugged coastline meets the untamed Pacific Ocean. I did my best to capture the spirit of this special place, and I hope that you get the opportunity to take that drive.
To capture that dreamy California vibe, I used my Sully Guitars 622 and my TigerLuv Guitars Custom Chiron for all of the lead and melodic parts, and my Fender American Elite Stratocaster and Ibanez Guitars 540R for the chimey clean rhythm parts. All of the guitar parts were played through my Mesa Boogie Mark V:25.
